Bakery Bakery is Switzerland’s first fully vegan bakery chain, created to challenge the norms and redefine what a bakery can be. We make a choice that is responsible, ethical, and uncompromising on quality and taste.

Our goal is to contribute to a future where baked goods and everyday consumption are responsible choices that help build a better world for generations to come. We believe that bringing people from all paths of life together in one welcoming space is a meaningful step in that direction.

Founded by Lycra and Kevin in 2019, Bakery Bakery quickly grew from a single Pop-Up to become Switzerland’s first fully vegan bakery chain, now operating nine locations with a dedicated team of over 100 people and plans for further expansion.

Even before her time with Bakery Bakery, Lycra organized many wonderful caterings, always according to the motto “just do it”. Kevin had already implemented many exciting projects with his first start-up Outlawz Food according to the motto: “Challenge the norm.”

vegan entrepreneurship.

Both had a background in vegan entrepreneurship and through their collaboration, they quickly transformed the Bakery Bakery into two pop-ups themselves, opened them and brought their idea to life. Doesn't fit? Fits now! Constantly with the motto “Doesn't fit? - is made to fit!”

After the pop-ups and many valuable learnings, they decided to open their first permanent location. There, too, they were busy rebuilding themselves together with the team because they didn't have the financials. They also ran a fine-dine pop-up and a sourdough pop-up, the passionate team was 100% passionate about it. Right from the start, it was important to them to implement everything vegan and with heart. Morals over gain.

In the same year, it became clear to them: We want more and it will continue! Shortly after, Bakery Bakery began expanding in Bern, followed by locations at Zurich HB and in other cities such as Basel and Winterthur. Growing and learning, that was the focus.

Break-even!

In 2023, things got serious. The company actually broke even! The whole team was motivated. The hardest phase was behind them: A time in the red almost caused the company to capsize. It was all the better when all the hard work suddenly paid off, with figures in the black and sustained growth.

Bakery Bakery goes BIG.

The motto “Keep challenging” was of course still present. Bakery Bakery now had almost 80 employees, and it was clear that they wanted to be more than just a bakery. To prove this the team created the biggest vegan pastry in the world! Bakery Bakery is now officially amazing and holds a Guinness World Record!

After the success with the giant vegan pastry, ideology and growth plans came together: The founding team decided to build Bakery Bakery even stronger as a community-based company and integrated 700 shareholders. This not only strengthened the community, but also gained additional capital for further growth.

zollikofen: das wachstumskapitel.

Zollikofen, next chapter, next level! A new era began with our own distribution center, a central purchasing department and an expanded management team. New teams for IT, graphics and marketing were set up, the office was expanded and the 100-employee mark was broken. The focus is clear: The vision is sharpened, the strategy is defined and everything is focused on responsible growth.
